Academic Advising

Undergraduate students who wish to plan their programs or who need advice on any academic matter should consult an Academic Advisor. This may include, but is not limited to:

  • planning for degree programs,
  • choosing courses,
  • clarifying academic procedures or regulations,
  • determining academic standing,
  • experiencing academic difficulty,
  • utilizing college advanced standing or university transfer credits,
  • requesting a course overload,
  • obtaining a letter of permission to take courses from another university (on-campus or through distance education),
  • planning around extended medical absences,
  • planning program/courses for an international exchange,
  • planning for a second degree,
  • waiving of program requirements/academic regulations through academic appeal/petition.

Office of the Registrar

The Office of the Registrar provides academic services and systems for prospective and current students - from initial contact, to application and admission, through course registration, academic advising, and graduation. We are your source for a wide range of academic services and information and are responsible for maintaining the integrity of your official academic record. The Office of the Registrar strives to recruit the best possible students into the University and to support the University's educational mission by providing high-quality services to the entire University community: students, professors, administrators, graduates and the general public. We strive to provide the most current, up-to-date information and are here to assist you through all phases of your enrolment at the University.​​​​​

Library Resources

The library more than doubles the size of our previous library and houses:

  • Expanded print collections
  • Study, classroom and social spaces for more than 500 students, including
    • A Learning Commons with 46 Mac computers
    • Collaborative workrooms, group instruction rooms, and adaptive technology rooms to accommodate 130 students

The library enables and facilitates:

  • The different learning styles of all types of students. We have created and integrated a learning environment with comprehensive technical support.
  • Professional learning through individual, group, and campus-wide programming. We keep the teaching community abreast of the developments in research tools and practices and provide a wide array of resources to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Access to resources needed for life-long learning. We liaise with other libraries and make our services available to members of the community.

Student Awards and Financial Aid

We offer and administer a wide range of financial aid programs to assist with funding your education.

Our scholarships and need-based awards and bursaries provide numerous awards to qualified students.  Our work study program (NUWork) allows you to combine learning and work.  Government assistance programs, such as OSAP, are an important source of funding; our office administers this program for all students attending Nipissing University.

Technology Services

Technology Services (UTS) is dedicated to assisting all members of the Nipissing University community make effective use of a wide range of information technologies. Highly skilled and customer service oriented staff ensure University members are able to optimize their academic and professional endeavors through the use of technology. The Apple Service Centre provides onsite support for both Apple computers and mobile devices.
